Seagull Restaurant
About This Spot
There’s an easy, welcoming rhythm to Seagull Restaurant the moment you arrive—a laid-back harbor-side charm that invites you to pause and breathe in the salty air just steps from the water. The pace here slows down to the gentle pulse of the ocean breeze, with the occasional call of seabirds overhead and the soft clatter of boats moored nearby. Whether you find yourself settling in on the cozy enclosed porch or claiming a spot by the window, there’s a peaceful intimacy in watching the harbor life unfold, making the meal feel as much about the surroundings as the food itself.
Inside, the atmosphere feels like a conversation among longtime friends—warm, uncomplicated, and quietly joyful. The gentle hum of folks sharing stories, the clink of glasses, and the subtle, inviting scent of grilled seafood mingle to create a space that’s both relaxed and deeply rooted in its coastal setting. With attentive, familiar service that makes you feel known without fuss, the restaurant bears the unmistakable mark of a place where careful hands have shaped every detail—from the smoked mussels to the hearty chowder served with a side of fresh ocean views.
Seagull embraces the best of Cape Breton’s seafood heritage without pretense. The menu is an extension of the waters just outside—offering grilled haddock kissed by fire, indulgent lobster dinners, and platters that showcase the bounty in generous portions meant to be savored slowly. Yet, the experience is not only about seafood; it’s also about comfort—spicy wings, tender chicken Caesar salads, even a thoughtful nod to traditional favorites like hot turkey, showing a versatility that invites all palates to the table.
As the meal winds down, the simple pleasure of dessert feels just right—a quietly satisfying close to a gathering, with treats that spark small moments of delight without overwhelming the senses. Here, the company you keep and the scenery beyond the window become as much a part of the experience as the food itself.
Seagull Restaurant feels less like a stop on the map and more like a found moment—where the ingredients, the setting, and the cast of familiar faces all come together to quietly celebrate the local flavors and the sea’s slow, steady rhythm.

If you’re looking for a spot in Ingonish , you would have found it here. You won’t be disappointed at all. It’s been a few years since I went here and had forgotten how good the food and service is . We sat in a site inside porch area and good for you of the nice cool breeze coming from the ocean which was just metres away, watching the boat in the Harbour was quite nice, Ordered a club sandwich and my friend ordered a hamburger , the fries were very hot and delicious. The hamburger was homemade. The waiters we had was wonderful popped in on us had to be 5 to 6 times just to see if we’re doing OK

Delicious gluten free options~ like the chowder, and grilled haddock plate, burgers & club sandwich--- didnt get sick once this summer while eating here regularly! Loved the cozy vibe of this restaurant, and the 3 sisters who cook the food!

This unassuming looking restaurant is a hidden jewel! Our absolute favorite is to eat fish or seafood while looking over the water. The Seagull is exactly that! Plus, the food is delicious! We had many lobster rolls during our week on Cape Breton Island, but these were the absolute best! We were able to get window seats on the porch both times and what a view! After the first meal, we ended up arranging our trip to come there for lunch two days later. The servers are super nice and very efficient. We'll remember this restaurant for a LONG time!

Absolutely the best fish on Cape Breton Island. The baked potatoes and veggies are fresh also along with the fish (delightfully delicious). If you can get a table on the patio, it's an atmosphere of 5 stars.

Fantastic service. What a beauty view overlooking the ocean!! We all had large portions, great seafood -mussels, chowder, lobster, scallops - also had Alfredo chicken linguine which was great. The desserts were OVER THE TOP! So good! Only the coconut cream pie needed some work...a bit too much gelatin so it wasn't 'creamy'. The Ginger spice cake with caramel sauce was unreal! Same with the strawberry shortcake. Just like my grandma makes it! So glad we stopped here.

Loved this little restaurant. It was our second pick as our first was closed due to them having bus tours. A little pricy but the view of the water and the fishing crab boats going back and forth, the atmosphere, the service and the food was excellent. Try it out.

I recently visited a charming seaside restaurant that truly captured the local spirit. The place had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with beautiful views of the ocean, making it perfect for a relaxing meal. Their lobster was absolutely delicious—fresh, tender, and perfectly cooked. The portions were generous, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for such high-quality seafood. The friendly staff and quick service made the experience even better. I left completely satisfied and would gladly return.
